Maps on a Magellan device

Example 1:
Area around Wentwood Forest in South East Wales (N51°38.091'N W2°49.513'). Screen shots below are from a Magellan eXplorist 710.

1 This is the most detailed map but is quite expensive to buy.
2 This is Magellan's Summit map which is supplied with the eXplorist 710 only. It is optional on the 610/510/310 and not available on the GC.

Example 2:
The small town of Caldicot in South Wales on the Magellan OS 1:50,000 map. Like the Garmin, these go 'fuzzy' if you zoom in too far but on the eXplorist 710 with the Summit street map the map changes to overlay the streetmap. If you zoom further the OS map disappears leaving the detailed street map.

Example 3:
The same location on the Summit street map on the eXplorist 710 (optional map on the 610/510/310). The third screen shot is from the basemap supplied with the Magellann GC.

The eXplorist 710 has a nice feature that works on all the maps. If you tap and hold your finger on the screen you get a moveable magnifying glass.
